INTERNTIONAL JOURNALISM WEEK

Introduction

The International Journalism Week is an event organized by the Department of Journalism Studies every year around February and March. The activity is a part of International Journalism Programme and seeks to create a space of exchange and collaboration between teachers and students from different international universities in the area of Journalism and Mass Media studies.

The Objectives of the IJW

The Journalism Studies School of the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona invites every year professors and professionals from international universities to participate at the «UAO International Journalism Week». The activity is a part of the Abat Oliba CEU International Journalism Program, and seeks four main purposes:

To create a space of shared knowledge on issues regarding modern day Journalism / Mass Media production through conferences, seminars and workshops with a group of highly motivated students, professionals and teachers

To allow students understand the developments of Journalism / Mass Media issues and concerns in today’s professional and academic environment

To allow a space of mutual acquaintance, debate and collaboration between Journalism / Mass Media teachers and professionals from different international universities on academic and professional issues related to Journalism and Mass Media practices and education

To generate international contacts with experts and academics in the area of Journalism / Mass Media in order to promote common research and exchange projects

Who is invited to participate?

The « UAO International Journalism Week » is open to:

– Teachers and professionals from international universities that have an Erasmus teacher collaboration agreement with the Abat Oliba CEU Journalism / Mass Media studies department (costs are covered by the Eramus teacher exchange programme of their main faculty

– Teachers and professionals from international universities that are interested in participating in the « UAO International Journalism Week » as part of their international teaching experience (in this case costs must be covered by their own academic institutions)

– Students from international universities that wish to participate during the week’s activities under the supervision of a teacher / representative of their own university (costs must be covered by their own academic institutions as a part of their international exchange programme)

– Journalism / Mass Media students from the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona

Important Note:

The UAO covers only the lunch buffet, the cultural visit and cocktails planned within the International Journalism Week. Other costs such as travel, evening meals and lodging must be covered by the guest’s university or faculty according to its international relations / research budget, or, in some cases, by personal fundings.

How to participate:

Send an e-mail to the Vice-dean of Journalism studies of the Abat Oliba CEU University, Prof. Joan-Andreu Rocha Scarpetta ([email protected]) with the following information:

– Full name(s) of participant(s)

– University, Department and Faculty that is being represented

– Brief CV (no more than five lines) indicating studies, teaching / professional experience, publications (if any) and personal interests (this CV will be used to present the participant during the weeks activities and in information material)

– Contact details (complete address, e-mail and contact phone number)

– Title of the conference / workshop that would be offered

– Copy (in digital format) of the participants passport or National Identity Card

A formal invitation letter will be sent to the participant in digital and paper format.
